The Blog as a Third Place

For our community I think that we can consider the blog a third place. It is a low profile area since our discussion can only take part in it. For us, the blog is a place to create a conversation with out having to worry about any negative remarks. The blog is also is easily accessible for all of us because we all have access to a computer and the internet.

    I think you are correct that the blog can be considered a third place because it creates conversation and is low profile, but it doesn't necessarily prevent negative remarks because it can be viewed and commented on by anyone with a blogger account. I think this actually makes it more of a third place because really anyone can try it out and experience our blog, just as people can try Starbucks or walk into a library.

    Jenna, I agree with you that the blog is a third place. It is very conversation oriented and it makes people feel more comfortable to add their opinions that they don't necessarily want to say out loud in front of the whole class. It will be a great way for all of us to get to know one another better.
